Fillies' Mile 2026
Friday, 9 October 2026. Day one of the Dubai Future Champions Festival at Newmarket, with five Group races, headed by the Group 1 Fillies' Mile at 2.57pm.
The Fillies' Mile is a Group 1 for two-year-old fillies over a mile on the Rowley Mile, and often points to next year's 1,000 Guineas. Below is our view on every Group race on the card, including our tip in the Cornwallis.
It's today. Members have our tips in Telegram. If we're giving one away, it's on the free tip page.
Our view on every Group race
How we read a race. Form and ratings first, then the trip, the ground, course form, the draw and the likely pace, then the race's own trends. Only then the price: a horse can be the most likely winner and still not be worth backing.
What our own record tells us. Every tip we've given is on our results page, so we can see where we're good and where we're not. By advised price: odds-on to evens −2.9% (33 winners from 67); evens to 3/1 +6.2% (127 winners from 354); 3/1 to 6/1 +16.7% (24 winners from 111); 6/1 to 10/1 +41.5% (7 winners from 49); over 10/1 −49.9% (1 winner from 33). So we're wary of short-priced favourites with questions to answer, and of big outsiders.
1.15 Cornwallis Stakes (Group 3, 5f, two-year-olds, 13 runners)
This is our tip, given to members and on our record like every other bet.
Flann Sunna
Best form in the race: 3rd, beaten less than a length, in the Group 2 Flying Childers over this five furlongs at Doncaster on 11 September, ahead of Fast Track (4th) and In The Black (5th), now the next two in the betting. Top-rated on official ratings (104). Won his first two starts, the second at Ascot by 4¾ lengths, and his only below-par run came over six furlongs in the Richmond Stakes, where he was 5th as evens favourite. William Buick rides again.
- The dangers: In The Black (4/1, Racing Post Rating 112) and Fast Track (8/1, the best Racing Post Rating in the race at 114) were both behind him at Doncaster. Mussab (7/1) has won his last two.
- The honest risk: a 13-runner two-year-old sprint where the start and the draw can decide it.
Prices at about 12.30pm on Friday.
1.50 Oh So Sharp Stakes (Group 3, 7f, fillies, 16 runners)
A big, competitive field where the draw may matter: At The Races rate high draws as the advantage over this course.
Nuit d'Eclair
Top-rated on both official ratings (100) and Racing Post Ratings (107), and in the first four in all four of her runs. At 9/2 she sits in the 3/1 to 10/1 range where our record is strongest. Against her: drawn 3.
Miss Kodi
The best Topspeed figure in the race (96) and a Racing Post Rating of 106.
Prices at about 12.30pm on Friday.
2.25 Challenge Stakes (Group 2, 7f, 6 runners)
A small field with a clear form choice.
Flora Of Bermuda
The highest Racing Post Rating in the race (125), a course-and-distance winner, and runner-up last time with two wins in her last four. 13/8 is inside the evens to 3/1 range where our record is in profit.
Time To Turn
Charlie Appleby's three-year-old gets 2lb from the older horses and has run to a Topspeed figure of 113.
- Holguin (10/1), the horse we tipped to win the Group 3 Goldene Peitsche at Baden-Baden in August, has a Racing Post Rating of 123 but steps up from six furlongs to seven.
Prices at about 12.30pm on Friday.
2.57 Fillies' Mile (Group 1, 1m, two-year-old fillies, 8 runners)
The best two-year-old filly in the race on the figures is also the shortest price.
Musical Times
Unbeaten in three, won the Group 2 May Hill Stakes at Doncaster, and her Racing Post Rating of 123 is 11lb clear of the next best. Odds-on, though, is the one range where our own record shows a loss, so no bet for us.
Forbidden Fire
Unbeaten in two, including the Listed Flying Scotsman at Doncaster. With eight runners, each-way pays three places at a fifth of the odds.
- Rogue Passion (7/2) won the Group 2 Prix d'Aumale at Longchamp last time and is the obvious danger to the favourite.
Prices at about 12.30pm on Friday.
4.45 Pride Stakes (Group 3, 1m2f, fillies and mares, 17 runners)
We'd rather be with the improver than the filly who keeps finding one too good.
Silver Lake
William Haggas's three-year-old has won her last four, the most progressive filly in the field, with a Racing Post Rating of 117 and a Topspeed figure of 102. James Doyle rides, and 6/1 is in the 3/1 to 10/1 range where our record is strongest.
Legacy Link
A Racing Post Rating of 119 and the second-best Topspeed figure in the race.
- Touleen (7/2 favourite) is top-rated but has been placed in four of her last five without winning: short for a filly who keeps finding one too good.
Prices at about 12.30pm on Friday.
