Form in Context
Official ratings are the starting point, not the answer. A horse beaten two lengths in a better race on the wrong ground is not the same as one beaten on its merits. We look for the form the market has misread.
02 · Going
Ground is Everything
Going history, pedigree and racing style all count, and British turf can change quickly. A strong rating on unsuitable ground is a reason for caution, not a bet.
03 · Draw
Course-by-Course Bias
Chester, Beverley, Ascot, Goodwood: flat tracks ride differently by stall, distance and going, and the bias can shift through a season. On some days at some tracks the draw goes a long way to deciding the race.
04 · Intent
Trainer & Jockey Signals
The booking sheet is a tipster's best friend. A top jockey on a midweek claimer, first-time headgear from a yard in form, a stable runner back on a career-low mark: intent can say more than bare form figures.
05 · Class
The Handicapper's Lag
Horses dropping in class, or returning on a career-low mark after a break, can be underestimated by the market. In British handicaps it's one of the angles we look at most closely.
06 · Market
Exchange Intelligence
We watch how the market moves on the day. Money for a horse with a strong profile adds confidence, and a drifting favourite gets a second look. The market sometimes knows things the form figures don't.

Most race days bring between one and four selections, mostly posted in the morning from about 8am. Each comes with a price and a stake of up to 5 points. Some days there's nothing worth backing, and we'd rather have no bet than force one.
How much does it cost?
The Gallop Premium is £25 a month or £250 a year. It's one plan with everything included, and you can cancel at any time.
How do you track performance?
Every priced tip posted to members since 15 October 2025 is on the results page, settled against the official result (from Sporting Life, or the official returns for the odd race it doesn't cover). Tips before October 2026 were compiled from the members' channel, with each result checked against the official returns. New tips are now recorded automatically the moment they're posted and settled after each race. Winning and losing months both stay on the record.
How are the selections made?
Form study comes first: ratings, going, draw, trainer and jockey patterns, and how the market is moving on the day. Every tip comes with a price, a stake and, for each-way bets, the place terms, so you can follow it exactly.
Does The Gallop cover Irish racing?
Yes, when there's a bet worth having. Most tips are on British racing, with Irish meetings such as Punchestown, Leopardstown and the Curragh in the mix, plus the odd big international meeting.
Can I cancel my subscription?
