Questions
How many bets is a Lucky 31?
31: 5 singles, 10 doubles, 10 trebles, 5 fourfolds and a fivefold on five selections. A £1 Lucky 31 costs £31 win, or £62 each way.
How many winners do I need for a return on a Lucky 31?
One. The singles mean any winner gives a return, though one winner on its own usually isn't enough for a profit.
How many winners do I need for a profit?
It depends on the prices. With the odds in the table on this page (2/1, 3/1, 4/1, 5/1, 6/1, with the shortest-priced winning first), a £1 win Lucky 31 first shows a profit with three winners. At bigger prices you can need fewer.
What's the difference between a Lucky 31 and a Canadian?
A Canadian, also called a Super Yankee, is the 26 multiples on five selections without the singles. A Lucky 31 adds the five singles, so one winner pays.
How are non-runners settled?
A non-runner's leg counts at odds of 1.0, so your stake carries on to the other selections: a treble with a non-runner becomes a double, and so on. Choose Non-runner as the result for that selection to see the effect.
